JESDAPORN PHOLDEE

Stage of Life…www.tikcity.com

Chapter 13

“Success” is proof that “you are able to do it.” But the thing beyond “success” is “happiness” you receive from “giving.”

And for this man, “Tik—Jesdaporn Pholdee”, every step of his is proof of his acting workmanship. However, his every breath is about the smile full of happiness on the faces of all the audience who send him inner strength with appreciative eyes.

“Whenever I have to film a series out in the countryside or in each district that is quite rural, I’ll see villagers filling up the whole soccer field from dawn to dusk to see Ih Tik—Jesdaporn Pholdee [from the translator: Tik used “Ih”, an informal and less polite form of speech before he said his name. It is pronounced “i” with medium high tone (Thai language is tonal and for “i” alone, there are 5 tones), which means that in this context he spoke of himself with humility as if he had been someone unpolished and from a lower class, not a superstar.] At that time, I felt, hey! Why are there a lot of people appreciating me? I was dumbfounded, glad and delighted. This is what I regard as something happening now to feel rejoice about because there are a lot of people waiting to see my handiwork. It causes me to have to deliver good work worthy of their admiration in return. I must do better. I need to meliorate. And even if it is just a voice or a letter, I count that as a point for me. I thank you all for a lot of their well wishes given to me. I run into tougher jobs as time goes by but I think they challenge my capability because there will be credible returned feedback from the people who really watch me and they are not lying for sure. They say straightforwardly that they like it when they do and dislike when they don’t, no beating around the bush. I let the audience be the judge if I perform well or poorly and I am very satisfied with myself currently.”

Besides receiving smiles as valuable consideration to adorn his heart, Tik also receives the best encouragement as a medal of honor growing greatly in his mind.

“What I am glad the most about is having people in my fan club setting up a website http://www.tikcity.com which is a site about me. I am particularly glad when I read the posts from a lot of people who never knew one another before and they say I have caused their friendship. They chat with one another and it creates companionship for them. When there is news about me or when they chat about who likes this work and who dislikes that work, it is like this is the center for the people who like me. Whatever they have, they bring in to chat here. Sometimes they appoint a date and time that I will be in to chat with them.

But because I have a lot of engagements, business, and times that do not quite match with theirs, I sometimes get home when they are already asleep or have gone to schools so I don’t know who to chat to.”

Even though sometimes “love” from the influx of encouragement from several hundred hearts joined together leaves some abrasive wounds on his body, these bruise marks are always the reminder for him to call to mind the one hundred hearts sent to him every time regardless of him having a “good” or “bad” moment.

“I am flocked and torn on occasions by my fans but I don’t feel upset, annoyed or dissatisfied at all. I think I will have to reconsider myself if there is no one contacting and chatting with me. The feedback is like a measure from the viewers of whether they like or dislike my work because of their appreciation and wish to be close to me. If I am not able to please them or make them appreciate my work, it translates into me not having done a good enough job yet. However, when there are a lot of people screeching and surrounding me, it makes me feel proud of having people coming to greet me. It shows that I am a touchable and tangible person, and although sometimes it hurts, it is okay. I think it is normal. The fans give me moral support. For instance, when I am in the news with someone, they would cheer me on every time.

There are people typically coming and going at my house everyday. Sometimes they come by to leave some letters, snacks, or books for my autographs, shuffling and rotating like this during the office hours. So it is like familiarity and I feel unquestioningly lonesome if they are not there one of those days.

However, they are not to the point of camping out in front of my house. It has never been like that. They usually leave once they know I am not home because they know what to do. They have never been immoderate and I feel good about them. They are all amiable.”

Sometimes we are not able to build a world-renowned architecture. However, if we get to do small things filled with love, it is already grandeur in our hearts.

“As of today, I will go in to chat about events or my next job if I have time before bedtime. I usually tell them and give them some good thoughts. Some of them have problems to consult and I will give them advice. I feel good that they consult with me. Although I don’t think of myself as so prominently fine, I tell them what I think is good and caution them if it is not.

I try to answer by myself when I have time. It gets me closer to the fans and makes me know what the viewers think about my current work. For example, a lot of people who watched Roy Leh Sanae Rai (100 Trickeries Deadly Passion) asked why Kongpob was so malicious. However, he became a rueful person towards the end so the fans and I have become friends.

But my “Tik Club” does not have just juveniles. There are uncles and aunts too. You can say there are all age groups because sometimes both the younger and older generations in the same home like my work. It broaches all the target groups from children to elderly. It makes me happy that a lot of people like my work.”

Sixty seconds of smile given to us by others are a minute for us to be buoyant. Sixty minutes of the buoyant are an hour of happiness. Twenty-four hours of happiness are the smiles we give to others in a day!!

JESDAPORN PHOLDEE

Stage of Life…”The Leading Costars”…The Source of a “Smile”

Chapter 14

A little bit easy…we just keep on “smiling” to people around us to open the door of “friendship” and widen it.

A little bit easy…we just use our “heart” to unlock the door of “friendship” and unbound it to accept the “smiles” coming from people around us.

And we will know that walking in to experience the word “friendship” is “so easy.”

Therefore, “Tik—Jesdaporn Pholdee” chooses to open the “door of friendship” with every “leading costar” he has worked with from the time he stepped into the “maya gate.”

“…Champagne Ex was the very first leading costar in my life who paired up with me in the movie “2499 The Gangsters Take Over the City (Dang Bireley’s & Young Gangsters).” Actually, I had seen her before we worked together and I personally liked her. I never thought the leading costar for this movie would be ‘Champagne Ex’ and I was glad when I knew because I was still very much a novice. Fortunately, she got along easily with others. She was hospitable and not haughty at all. She was like more comfortable and not fussing. She was not serious about the script so I regarded her as another leading costar I had my peace of mind working with.

Next was the movie “Kon Buan Sai Fah (Destiny Upside Down)” that I paired up with Krit (Chakrit Yamnam) and Pim (Sonia Couling). People may not recall this movie all that much and probably remember me when I played the role of ‘Chai’ in the movie ‘The Iron Ladies’. I paired up with Nui (Sujira Arunpipat) who was the only leading costar to pair up with me twice. Before that, I paired up with each costar only once with no repetition, always only once with each of them. But it did not mean it could not be repeated. It was not up to me and I don’t know why I never paired up with the same leading costars, only this one that was a duplicate. However, Nui was a just a nonsensical juvenile wearing a high school uniform and carrying a schoolbag to the filming set. She was probably only 15-16 at the time.

In my opinion, Nui was the type of girl who was more beautiful the more she was scrutinized. She was a good student and a good girl to her parents who cherished her. I felt that way even though we had only 3-4 queues in the same scenes. We did not keep in touch after that and I thought she was still a child. I never thought one day I would see her walking on stage of the Thai Beauty Pageant. I remember that day when I was pressing the remote control and watching TV. I saw that they were announcing the second place at that moment. When the first place was announced and it was…Sujira Arunpipat, I was a little suspicious. I felt, eh! The name was familiar. I questioned if this was the same Sujira so I called the staff at Thai Entertainment Company. I asked if this was Nui in ‘The Iron Ladies’ and it was really her. We talked a lot over the phone the next day and chortled loudly because I was glad she got it.

I paired up with her again in the sequel ‘The Iron Ladies II’ and this time the characters had evolved further than in the prequel when we were just lovers. We were married and had children, a pair of twins to be exact, in the sequel. If we didn’t have children, people would suspect if the character ‘Chai’ was like his friends in ‘The Iron Ladies’ (laugh). However, Nui had already been the Miss Thailand of the Thai people. But in my thoughts, she was still gruff. Although she was more beautiful, she was still a child like she used to be(smile).”

A little bit easy…in choosing to memorize “happiness” as “remembrance” that whenever thought of, both she and you “beam” and you will know to just “smile” and nothing around us would always be “difficult”.

‘Nui—Sujira Arunpipat’

“When I first realized I was going to pair up with the leading superstar from ‘2499 The Gangsters Take Over the City (Dang Bireley’s & Young Gangsters)’, I thought at that time, Oh! Was I really pairing up with ‘Dang Bireley’? I was very excited. I didn’t think we would get to work together because I was just a silly juvenile at the age of 15-16. I was just an ordinary presenter. Once we worked together, I realized P’Tik was not arrogant at all [from the translator: P’ is pronounced “pee” and used to respectfully address someone somewhat older such as an older brother or sister.] He took very good care of me. He was not at all haughty although I had only a few queues in some scenes with him.

Three years later, I paired up with him again in ‘The Iron Ladies II’. I was glad we met again. I remember when met each other again at that time, he made a gesture of being hugely excited. He said, oh! Nui was Miss Thailand. He enjoyed himself in a boisterous manner. The others also teased me but I was like it was nothing. I was still the same. He did not say I was more beautiful. If he had, I would have laughed. I would have questioned what mood he was in (laugh) to praise me that I was beautiful. But he said, uh, I had grown up into a young lady. Sort of like that. As for the news of romance to promote the movie, I was not afraid of that because I didn’t see that he made any gesture to court me at all. I suspect it was because I was not beautiful (laugh).

I would like to pass this along to P’Tik. He is already handsome and good at playing his roles in the TV series. The TV series fans in the entire country are hooked. He has a lot of jobs and the ladies are head over heel with him. He has got enough in his life and no need for anything else. He is already perfect (extraordinarily long drawling).

JESDAPORN PHOLDEE

Stage of Life…Leading Costars…The Source of “Remembrance”

Chapter 15

“Remembrance” usually moves clockwise and evokes several tales coming through to be stored in our embrace to give us peace of mind every time the remembrance “inquires.”

And Tik—Jesdaporn Pholdee’s both arms usually have a hundred flavors and a thousand affairs that often bring “warmth”, especially when life is changing.

“I used to take a role in movies only and you can say I was born out of them. One day there was a TV series coming in before I knew it, but like I told you I used to like taking part in movies better. They have their charms and I was more familiar with them. But it was not like I was good at them, just used to them. Once I decided to accept a TV series and take a part in it, I had to take a role in ‘Soda and Iced Tea’ of the Exact Company. That made me a little nervous because I didn’t think I was good at it and, in addition, I didn’t know how it was to be done. So Pin (Ketmanee Wattanasin) was my first leading costar for the TV series and she had to be very patient with me because I was brand new for the job. Moreover, I had to have several takes but Pin had some habits like those of a man. She was gruff and a go-getting type who was easy to work with. She was not upset when I couldn’t do it. She never complained which made me feel at ease. She never had any problems with work and she gave me acquaintanceship. I felt very good with my first TV series.”

The universe’s gimmick never stays idle like that of Tik’s life that never stays dormant. Besides, it is persistent at creating “novelty” for our lives continuously. The more time goes by, the more it strengthens his palms and makes him more proficient in listening to critiques. It makes his heart jolly with every single piece of work he does.

“There were a lot of actors I worked with in the movie “Satang” but as for the characters, I liked Cheery’s the best (Khemupsorn Sirisukha). The youngest leading costar for me was Taya (Taya Rogers) in the TV series “Prissana” of Poly Plus. It was our first series together. I must say honestly that she was still very much like a child, very young of age, but I admit she was very good at acting and had high level of determination in her work. She was a good girl and I feel fortunate that all my leading costars were hospitable and affable. We had no problems working together.

As for Pim (Pimmada Boriruksuppakorn) who paired up with me in the TV series “Tawan Tad Burapa (The Sun Faces Off the East)”, she is a charming lady. I knew her as a singer in the Zaza Band and all the three ladies were adorable. Pim was naïve and child-like. She had a caretaker with her when she came to the filming set. In terms of our work, it was smooth to the point I suspected why she was so good at acting despite that being only her second series. I think she is a talented woman. She was good at expressing several emotions and the character was very much hers.

But the leading costar who made me feel that she was very friendly must be this one “Nat Myria” because when we were together in the series “Wang Waree”, she continuously jokes about. She was a leading actress who was good-humored, funny and hilarious all day long. She was at ease and the response for this series was very good. I felt good working with her.”

We do not need to make “the best” of our lives by today but we can persistently “better” it everyday.

Nat—Myria

“Tik is a capable actor and there were no problems when we paired up in the series “Wang Waree.” He did his homework well and was determined. He was good-humored and got along with people. I was a bit shy with him in the beginning but I became more spontaneous as we continued to work together.

Once I learned I would pair up with him, I was not worried at all because as far as I knew, he was a good actor. Moreover, I liked it that he was able to act a variety of characters. For instance, an action character having to hold a gun and he looked good doing it even though his look was not that way. His real personality was hilarious and fun but he was able to do it when he had to act reserved. He did it well.

Lastly, I would like to leave him with this. I wish him happy living on an ongoing basis and continue to be the people’s idol forever. I think he has already been able to do it well. I hope we get to work together again when there is a chance.

JESDAPORN PHOLDEE

Stage of Life…Leading Costars (Third Chapter)…The Source of “Pleasure”

Chapter 16

All and sundry usually remark that time can remodel all kinds of things. But if we look deeply, the person embarking on altering them is none other than ourselves.

As of this date, “Tik—Jesdaporn Pholdee” is not choosing to sit his life on the same bench in the same corner of the same cramped rectangular room because his “heart” knows to take his “body” and “brain” out to touch the “bliss” every time rarefaction rapping on the front door.

“Maam—Kathleeya McIntosh was the next leading costar who made me feel a little stiff because I thought of her as a high ranking and regal princess. The various images about her were like that of an elegant princess. As far as I knew, people took very good care of her so I didn’t quite know how to behave myself and I was a bit nervous.

Maam had to take the role of “Madame Roykaew” in that series so the image everybody saw was different from what we used to see of her. She had to be a bit gruff.

There were no problems in terms of acting. There was a little bit of a hurdle in the beginning but it went well once we had acted together for a while. Maam is a very beautiful woman in my eyes no matter from what angle you would look at her. She is adept, hospitable and a professional actress. She has been in several series and is regarded as my senior in terms of acting. But she also has a funny side too.”

The importance of “happiness” for Tik is not from a luxurious and expensive home with a huge and majestic door, but it turns out to be through a diminutive door in his heart ever more open for every leading costar dropping by to pay a visit.

“Aom (Piyada Akarasenee) was my latest leading costar not counting Nui (Sujira Arunpipat). We paired up in the TV series ‘Roy Leh Sanae Rai (100 Trickeries Deadly Passion)’ of Channel 5. Actually, before I worked with her in the series, I watched her work with my mom on TV. I recall it was a series entitled ‘Fah Pieng Din (The Sky Is Just Soil)’ that she paired up with Captain (Phutanate Hongmanop) of Channel 3. My mom admired her good acting skills and loveliness. I didn’t know at that time I was going to pair up with her later on. After that, P’Pon (Nipon Phewnen) called me in to talk once the script for the series was done [from the translator: P’ is pronounced “pee” and is used to respectfully address someone somewhat older such as an older brother or sister]. He told me I would pair up with Aom—Piyada for the series and I cried out ‘well! Is that true? My mom had just praised her.’

I had to talk to Aom a lot for this series because according to the script, I had to chit-chat and flirt with her all the times. I needed to connect the relationship between Kongpob and Namneung as much as possible so I had to considerably talk to her. This got us fully used to each other because I had to be very close to the leading character in almost all the scenes in the series. I had to touch and caress her and I didn’t want her to be shy or think that I took liberties with her. We had to act as natural as possible so I became Knogpob at all times. I told her I would be Knogpob all the times so she would not be boggled. I would have to look at her with eyes that would cause her to melt. Kongpob was a moody type of a person who would get whatever he wanted. He was an extreme type who loved intensely and hated frenetically when he did. I counted it as a challenging role and I was happy to be working with each of the leading costars.”

“Happiness” is easy to be found because it is in us, close to us and we can always see it around us if we know to use our “heart” to look for it.

NOTE: Maam—Kathleeya McIntosh

“When I played a role with Tik in the TV series ‘Tok Kradai Hua Jai Ploy Jone (Following Through With a Heart After a False Step)’, I felt he was a very determined actor. He made me feel like he was really Mayor Cholchart and I was Madame Tao Rong when we acted together. Another thing I was glad about the series was that it was able to kindle the trend for the Thai people to have an interest in Thai products. In this series, we promoted OTOP [One Tumbon (subdistrict) One Product] and once the audience liked the series, they got the notion too.

The series made us close and chummy in itself because we had to film it out in the country so we had to live together for months. I became close to Tik like everyone else. I felt indifferent with the news of us matching up because when the viewers were in with the series, they would want the leading costars to really be lovers off the scene too. But once the time had passed, they knew it was just our duties.”
